About the Anmeldekosten

Radif Partners

Publisher of an independent fee and deadline calculator for German vehicle registration and driving licence exchange, district by district

Radif Partners publishes independent calculators on administrative and money questions. This one answers three questions everyone faces after buying a car in Germany, moving house or finding an old licence in a drawer: which registration office (Zulassungsstelle) is mine, what exactly does my procedure cost, and by when must my licence be exchanged?

Why another site on this

Searching for registration costs in October 2026 brought up guides that quoted a new-car figure that appears nowhere in the fee schedule in force, gave a range “depending on the city” although the fees sit in a single federal ordinance, and let nobody calculate anything. The cities’ own pages are accurate, but each describes only its own counter, in German.

This site gives every registration fee line by line from the fee schedule in force, with the item number, the online discount and the personalised-number surcharge, and shows for each of the 415 registration districts the official address, plate codes and licensing office from the Federal Motor Transport Authority’s directories, with no appointment, account or middleman.

Where the information comes from

Fees: road traffic fee schedule (GebOSt), last amended by Art. 6 of the Ordinance of 12 August 2026. Addresses: directory of registration offices as of October 2026, with 697 main offices and branches, and the directory of licensing offices. Vehicle stock: FZ1 statistics at 1 January 2026. Deadlines: Annex 8e of the Driving Licence Regulation. The calculations are on the method page.

What we are not

We are not a registration office, a licensing office or a registration agent. We take no applications, reserve no plates, sell no plates and book no appointments. Your office’s fee notice is what counts.

Funding

The calculators are free. If advertising ever appears, it will never sit above a calculator or pose as a recommendation, and what you type stays on your device.

Why in English too

Every page exists in English for people who have moved to Germany and are registering their first car or converting a foreign licence, and want to understand the offices’ German terms, which we explain as they come up.
